The Custer Wolf - Food & Drink

We had a wonderful time at the Custer Wolf on a recent visit to the black hills. The owner and staff are very friendly and the food we had was great. I would belly up to the bar for a wonderful dining experience with some personality. Say hi to Tommy and Luke!

We are part time in Custer but we LOVE the wolf. Great bar food, good wine selection, beers are great and friendly staff. We always eat here more than once when in Custer.

This is my favorite restaurant in Custer. They have wonderful friendly staff and the best chicken tenders around. Definitely a place to visit if your looking for great food.

The food was surprisingly good. We were expecting just bar food, however, we got a excellent grilled cod with veggie medley that was surperb! Unfortunately, our female server paled in comparison to the male servers we saw around us and the ones that stepped in occasionally to serve our table as we sat unassisted. I would go back to this restaurant.

This is such a rustic cute restaurant. The kids Mac and cheese was so good we shared it with our 1 year old. Ingot the burger and my husband got the Rubin. The staff was so nice they came over so many times to make sure we were okay. So friendly and nice!

Amazing gem in the heart of historic downtown Custer. Delicious food (salad, nachos and fries were incredible) as well as great decor and a friendly owner. You can tell the staff takes great pride in cooking food food and having this be one of the best restaurants in the area. Also, if you’re looking to kill some time while you wait for a table, right across the way is an adorable thrift store.

A rare 5 star review from me, but this place really did deserve it. The spinach artichoke chicken sandwich really enthused my taste buds. The community guitar was a prodigious touch to the establishment. The best sandwiches on planet Earth are served in downtown Custer, South Dakota. The restrooms achieve a very immense rating from myself. Cleanliness was so breathtaking, I had to take a moment for myself to regroup my thoughts. This place is an incredibly stunning, clean, down to Earth establishment with a kind, musical atmosphere.

Food was good staff was nice just a little understaffed for a busy holiday weekend. Rangers pie is fantastic, meatloaf is good just not as good as ranchers pie

Try the grilled vegetables with baked fish-Yum!! Great food, great service and smiles on everyone's faces. Try it if you are in Custer.

Love this place , the servers are always friendly and attentive , the atmosphere and decor is cozy and warm. The food is always good fresh and delicious, my favorite is the fish and chips . There are times when i just don't have the time to sit and enjoy a meal i will call and place an order to go. When i open my to go box folks around me always ask where u get that ? Why the Custer Wolf of course best food in town. I also appreciate their to go boxes are green not harmful to the environment . Way to go Custer Wolf !!!

Ordered the chicken artichoke sandwich and fries. It was ok, but i wasn't amazed by it, and the fries were disappointing. Service was great and they were very friendly.

We love The Custer Wolf. We go every week. Love the food and the rotating taps.

One of our favorite restaurant always great food and service! Favorites include the Fish and Chips and Chicken Strips. Love how they are always rotating different craft beers so we have something new to try every time we stop in. Tommy and the staff take great care of its customers! Don't forget to finish your meal with some of there bread pudding.

A great small restaurant and brewery. The menu has a nice variety and the food we had was wonderful! If you enjoy beer they have many to choose from and a lot of local brews as well. We will definitely be back!

The Custer Wolf is such a delight! Excellent offerings, great staff, always friendly and professional. I have enjoyed many items on their menu and that Jalepeno Burger is fantastic! The Chicken Salad is excellent, coleslaw and fries divine. I appreciate the Custer Wolf and it is a great meeting plce with friends and family or on my own when I am in town. Love it!

From the moment I walked in the place had a wonderful vibe to it. I then ordered a Ruben which I have ordered many times many places. They have a unique twist on the Russian dressing and on the bun instead of bread that it was served on. It was delicious. Too bad I don’t live here I would definitely be back again.

This little restaurant is big on flavor, Love a great onion ring and a mug of beer! Menu items change keeping it fresh with the season! Get there when I can! Fun and Friendly atmosphere.

Ok drop what you're doing and order the Reuben sandwich and onion rings. I've never seen a better bun on a Reuben. Rings were like donuts. Staff was great and cool decor.

The Wolf is my favorite restaurant, pub, hangout ever! I go there regularly because I have never had a bad experience. The food is Always Good! They always try to create something new to keep the menu exciting! I think the chicken burrito special was my favorite. I’m so happy that they always have a Porter on tap! And, they have an incredible staff! Friendly and helpful! I’m very opinionated and definitely speak my mind. I wouldn’t steer you wrong, this is the place to eat, hang, drink at!

Delicious chicken artichoke sandwich

The Custer wolf has improved immensely. This is a great place with a pub like atmosphere that is great for a date or a whole family. Prices are like many here in Custer SD but the bang for your buck is definitely there with the quality of food and volume measuring up to expectations. Definably check it out if you are here, ill definitely be back and sending visitors over.

This place is awesome. While on vacation we found this place the first night and from then on we ate there every night for the rest of our stay. They have great food with an excellent beer selection and the staff are amazing! We will return!

Eclectic mixture. Old time feel, foodie menu, good bar selection. Service is casual and friendly. I could see being a regular here. It's a Cody Jinks Hippies and Cowboys vibe.

Every time I arrive in Custer, the Wolf is one of my first stops. I crave their healthy, fresh-made food when I’m not there. The chicken and veggies and the salad with cilantro vinaigrette are my favs. So good. The service and friendly staff make me feel at home.

Delicious meal of chicken and vegetables for me and a scrumptious burger and fries for my hubby. First meal out for three months and it definitely hit the spot!! The servers were friendly and wonderful. The place was so clean and I noticed they kept everyone 6 feet apart to stay healthy. Highly recommend this place.

Vegetable medley with grilled chicken excellent, as was fish & French fries, bread pudding, and pear/strawberry/granola/pecans dessert. wonderful surprise since this was the only restaurant we could find open between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in town. Service was excellent atmosphere was quiet, and we would definitely recommend it to others!

So crazy good. I’m from MN, where fish is a staple food, and their fish and chips were amazing by my standards. The onion rings were beyond delicious. Everyone in my party of nine left happy and full, and we ordered wide across the menu. Our waiter was friendly, quick, and on top of our large group’s insanity. This place is being added to our ‘must stop’ list for when we are in the Hills.

We came in and sat at the bar.Aaron was quick to get us set up with drinks and food.I had the fish and chips and my wife had the chicken special with Chermoula sauce. Both were very delicious and filling.Partook on a couple rounds of drinks and asked to get the bill. It was delivered in a dog eared book, which I thought was an interesting method of presentation. Thanks again for a wonderful meal and atmosphere.

Excellent local business that takes pride in their craft. Service is friendly , knowledgeable, and quick. Food is excellent. We had the jalepeno burger and fish and chips which were great. Kids had the kids burger - a juicy 1/4 lb burger, and the macaroni - made in house. Paired it all with side salads - filling half the plate on kids and regular means - with house made dressings. Everything was excellent. Good beer selection, games, and coloring books for kids.

Stopped for lunch. Great local brews. Fantastic soup and sandwich. Outside snow blowing, inside warm and comfy. We had a great time with locals and staff. Will definitely be back!

We are locals and love this restaurant. The food is wonderful and the staff is great. They have the best onion rings on the planet.

Great food, fast friendly service. Not much open in Custer in October so we decided on The Custer Wolf. The jalapeno bacon cheeseburger was very good. The bun did not appear to be mass produced, the burger was flavorful, nice thick bacon not cooked until you break a tooth trying to bite through it. The star though was the jalapeno spread they put on the bun. Fantastic flavor with just the right touch of heat to complement. I definitely recommend this establishment.

Everything we put in our mouths was fabulous! If I could rate higher than a six I would. The staff made us feel like family. Don't be afraid...order the ceviche immediately! It is beyond delicious! The spinach artichoke dip was perfect! The chicken BLT Alfredo was mouthwatering. But then, the bread pudding. The best part of the meal. Except the beer. And the people. Amazing!

Tastiest darned chicken strips and onion rings I've ever had. Happy to serve us even in a time of change in their business. Such nice locals and delicious food!

I definitely recommend eating here!!! This place has the best homemade bread pudding with a delicious, buttery, whiskey sauce. When you take a bite you will think you died and went to heaven! We drove 14 hours for the bread pudding and it was well worth it! (We stopped last year and had to come back again this year)Also amazing walleye po’boy and their nachos are huge and taste amazing! The service was wonderful and atmosphere was pleasant. If you are in Custer you should stop here!

We came in, sat down, and almost immediately there was a waitress with menus at our table. We ordered our drinks, and they came very quickly. We ordered our food, and it came out pretty fast. The food was delicious! This was the best restaurant I’ve been to for awhile! I would definitely recommend!

Dined here on a Monday night and arrived just after 6pm. It wasn't too busy when I arrived, but about half an hour in, it started to get busy and there was a wait for tables. The service is excellent - friendly and prompt. I ordered the Buffalo sandwich, ceviche and onion rings. As a solo traveller, this was a lot of food for me, but this can be easily shared between two people.Tip: Grab a table before 6:30pm to avoid the dinner rush. If you're a solo traveller or with a companion, try to grab a table at the bar if the restaurant is busy.

First time we've eaten here, and the food was spectacular. Best Hot Beef Sandwich ever with really good "real" mash potatoes. Also really good green beans. And the Bread Pudding is amazing! Very generous portions. Will definitely go back again!
